A happi like Chef Jacket Monbetsu is a traditional Japanese Jacket, similar to a coat. It is straight sleeve and made of cotton. They usually carry some kind of badge (or kamon) on the back. They´re worn directly on top of a Fundoshi (traditional underwear). It´s used in festivals, in Shinto celebrations or during the yosakoi, currently used by the itamae or Japanese Chefs like you!
